I-2019 Dissolved Ozone Test Kit: A Tool Our Technicians Use in the Field

Measuring dissolved ozone is an important part of servicing and troubleshooting ozone water-treatment systems. The amount of ozone generated doesn’t always tell you how much ozone is actually dissolved in the water, which is why direct measurement can be useful.

Our service technicians use the I-2019 Dissolved Ozone SAM Kit to measure dissolved ozone during field service and system evaluations.

What Is the I-2019?

The I-2019 is a portable photometer designed to measure dissolved ozone in water from 0 to 5.00 ppm (mg/L). It uses the DPD method and provides a digital LED reading, allowing technicians to obtain a numerical result rather than relying on visual color comparison.

How the Test Works

The testing process uses a water sample, activator solution, and a Vacu-vial ampoule. After the sample is prepared, the ampoule is filled and mixed, then allowed to develop for approximately two minutes. The ampoule is placed into the I-2019 photometer, which measures the color response and displays the dissolved ozone concentration.

Proper sampling and timing are important for obtaining consistent results.

How Technicians Use It

During a service visit, an I-2019 reading can provide useful information about the actual dissolved ozone level in the water. Technicians may use the measurement to:

  • Check dissolved ozone at a specific sampling point
  • Compare readings before and after service or adjustments
  • Help troubleshoot unexpected ozone levels
  • Check installed dissolved ozone monitoring equipment
  • Collect field data when evaluating system performance

The I-2019 is a diagnostic tool, so the reading is considered alongside other factors such as water flow, ozone generation, and system conditions.

Why the 0–5 ppm Range Matters

The I-2019 is designed for dissolved ozone measurements up to 5.00 ppm. This makes it suited to applications where ozone concentrations fall within that range. For lower-concentration applications, different ozone testing methods may be more appropriate.

For our technicians, having a portable instrument like the I-2019 provides a practical way to take dissolved ozone measurements directly in the field and use those results as part of a broader system evaluation.

In short, the I-2019 gives technicians a direct measurement of dissolved ozone that can help turn field observations into useful data.
