Why Choose Vacu-vials?

CHEMetrics Vacu-vials self-filling ampoules are a great way to test for dissolved substances in liquid. Unlike our visual test kits, the Vacu-vials test kit allows you to obtain an instrumental result using the CHEMetrics Direct-Redout Photometers or any spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13m diameter round cell. When using equipment from another manufacturer, set the spectrophotometer to absorbance mode, select the wavelength specified by the Vacu-vials kit instructions, and follow the test procedure. The K-1503 Ammonia Kit is designed to accurately measure the levels of Ammonia in water from 0-7.00 ppm.

Safe and Reliable Results:

While traditional methods often require multiple steps and thorough preparation, these test kits allow you to obtain dependable results with a few simple steps. By simplifying the testing method, Vacuvials test kits reduce the potential for operator error. Additionally, each of the ampoules contained in the test kits is vacuum sealed which helps eliminate the problem of obtaining inaccurate results from stale or unstable reagents. These reagents are stored right in the tip of each ampoule and sealed in glass, thereby minimizing direct contact with the chemicals.

What's Included:

     -30 self-filling Ampoules

     -25 mL Sample Cup

     -Activator Solution

     -Ampoule Blank

     -Instruction Manual

Method:

The K-3903 DEHA Kit was designed to accurately measure the levels of DEHA in water from 0-2.0 ppm. K-3903 uses the PDTS Method. The test kits employ the PDTS chemistry, in which DEHA reduces iron III (ferric state) to iron II (ferrous state), which readily reacts with PDTS (3-(2-pyridyl)-5,6-bis(4-phenylsulfonic acid)-1,2,4-triazine disodium salt) to form a pink-purple colored complex in direct proportion to the DEHA concentration. Test results are expressed in ppb (ug/L) or ppm (mg/L) DEHA.

Dissolved oxygen in boiler system water causes corrosion and pitting of metal surfaces, which can lead to boiler inefficiency, equipment failure, and system downtime. DEHA (N,N- Diethylhydroxylamine) is added to boiler system water as an oxygen scavenger to keep the dissolved oxygen levels as low as possible.

How to Use:

1. Fill the sample cup to the 25 mL mark with the sample to be tested. 2. Add 2 drops of the Activator Solution. Stir to mix the contents of the cup.
3. Immediately place the Vacu-vial ampoule tip-first into the sample cup. Snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill. 4. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end.
5. Dry the ampoule and wait 10 minutes for color development. 6. Insert the Vacu-vial ampoule into the photometer, flat end first, and obtain a reading in ppm.
