The K-3925 DEHA Kit was designed to accurately measure the levels of DEHA in water from 25-250 ppm. K-3925 uses the Ceric Sulfate Titrant with Ferroin Indicator Method. CHEMetrics developed a titrimetric method that employs a ceric sulfate titrant and ferroin end point indicator. DEHA reduces ferric iron to the ferrous state, and the resulting ferrous iron is titrated with the ceric sulfate titrant. Test results are expressed in ppm (mg/L) DEHA.
Dissolved oxygen in boiler system water causes corrosion and pitting of metal surfaces, which can lead to boiler inefficiency, equipment failure, and system downtime. DEHA (N,N- Diethylhydroxylamine) is added to boiler system water as an oxygen scavenger to keep the dissolved oxygen levels as low as possible.
How to Use:
Note: Images used in the following table show a total hardness and colors may differ from the ones shown. Read written instructions to know what color changes to expect from your substance.
|1. Fill the sample cup to the 15 mL mark with the sample to be tested.||2. Add 6 drops of the Activator Solution. Stir to mix the contents of the cup. Wait 2 minutes the sample will turn orange.|
|3. Snap the tip of the ampoule at the black snap ring.||4. Lift the control bar and insert the Titret assembly into the Titrettor.|
|5. Hold the Titrettor with the sample pipe in the sample. Press the control bar firmly, but briefly, to pull in a small amount of sample. The contents will turn green.||6. Press the control bar again to draw another small amount of sample into the ampoule.|
|7. Rock the entire assembly to mix the contents of the ampoule. Watch for a color change from blue to colorless. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until a permanent color change occurs.||8. When the color of the liquid in the ampoule changes through blue to a brownish-orange, remove the ampoule from the Titrettor. Hold the ampoule tip pointed upward and read the scale opposite the liquid level. Results are expressed in ppm
