K-1413 Ammonia
K-1413 Ammonia Vacu-Vials Kit is used to determine Ammonia levels in water ranging from 0-3.00 ppm & 0-60.0 ppm.
This kit requires the use of the V-2000 or V-3000 Photometer or a spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13 mm diameter round cell. Instruments sold separately.

Why Choose Vacu-vials?
CHEMetrics Vacu-vials self-filling ampoules are a great way to test for dissolved substances in liquid. Unlike our visual test kits, the Vacu-vials test kit allows you to obtain an instrumental result using the CHEMetrics Direct-Redout Photometers or any spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13m diameter round cell. When using equipment from another manufacturer, set the spectrophotometer to absorbance mode, select the wavelength specified by the Vacu-vials kit instructions, and follow the test procedure. The K-1413 Ammonia Kit is designed to accurately measure the levels of Ammonia in water from 0-5.0 ppm.
Safe and Reliable Results:
While traditional methods often require multiple steps and thorough preparation, these test kits allow you to obtain dependable results with a few simple steps. By simplifying the testing method, Vacuvials test kits reduce the potential for operator error. Additionally, each of the ampoules contained in the test kits is vacuum sealed which helps eliminate the problem of obtaining inaccurate results from stale or unstable reagents. These reagents are stored right in the tip of each ampoule and sealed in glass, thereby minimizing direct contact with the chemicals.
What's Included:
-30 self-filling Ampoules -25 mL Sample Cup -Stabilizer Solution -Catalyzer Solution -Activator SOlution -Ampoule Blank -3 mL Syringe -Instruction Manual |
Method:
K-1413 uses the Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol (HBA) Method. In the ammonia test method that employs the Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol chemistry, free ammonia reacts with hypochlorite to form monochloramine. Monochloramine reacts with HBA, in the presence of sodium nitroferricyanide, to form a green-colored complex. This test method measures the sum of free ammonia and monochloramine. Results are expressed in ppm (mg/L) ammonia-nitrogen, NH3-N.
The Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Method offers sensitivity similar to the Nesslerization Method without the generation of mercury-containing waste.
How to Use:
1. Fill the sample cup to the 20 mL mark with the sample to be tested. | 2. Add 4 drops of the Stabilizer Solution 4 drops of the Catalyzer Solution, and 4 drops of the Activator Solution. |
3. Immediately place the Vacu-vial ampoule tip-first into the sample cup. Stir briefly then snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill. | 4. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end. |
5. Dry the ampoule and wait 2 minutes for color development. | 6. Insert the Vacu-vial ampoule into the photometer, flat end first, and obtain a reading in ppm. |
