Why Choose CHEMetrics Chemets kits?

CHEMetrics Chemets self-filing reagent ampoules are a great way to test for dissolved substances in liquids. These visual test kits allow you to obtain results by measuring the color of the sample according to the color comparators provided with the kit. This unique method allows you to attain results quickly and accurately with minimal contact with potentially hazardous materials.

Safe and Reliable Results:

While traditional methods often require multiple steps and thorough preparation, these test kits allow you to obtain dependable results with a few simple steps. By simplifying the testing method, Chemets test kits reduce the potential for operator error. Additionally, each of the ampoules contained in the test kits is vacuum sealed which helps eliminate the problem of obtaining inaccurate results from stale or unstable reagents. These reagents are stored right in the tip of each ampoule and sealed in glass, thereby minimizing direct contact with the chemicals.

What's Included:

Method:

The K-9400 Detergents Kit was designed to accurately measure the Detergent levels in water from 0-3 ppm. K-9400 uses the Methylene Blue Method. The methylene blue active substances (MBAS) method is used in a 3-minute procedure to measure anionic detergents in the 0-3 ppm (mg/L) range. The procedure features a unique extraction/sampling technique that eliminates several steps required in other test procedures and provides increased sensitivity. Anionic detergents react with methylene blue to form a blue-colored complex that is extracted into an immiscible organic solvent. Results are expressed in ppm (mg/L) as linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS), equivalent weight 325.

Detergents can be introduced into the water supply by industry, soap manufacturers, and private households. Environmental analysts often include a determination of anionic detergents when assessing surface water pollution.
