The K-9510 Sulfide Kit was designed to accurately measure the levels of Sulfide in water from 0-1 ppm and 1-10 ppm. K-9510 uses the Methylene Blue Method. CHEMetrics test kits measure total acid-soluble sulfides and employ the methylene blue methodology. Sulfides react with dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine in the presence of ferric chloride to produce methylene blue. Results are expressed as ppm (mg/L) S.
|1. Fill the sample cup to the 25 mL mark with the sample to be tested. Add 3 drops of Activator Solution. Stir to mix the contents of the cup.||2. Immediately place the ampoule tip-first into the sample cup. Snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill.|
|3. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end.||4. Dry the ampoule and wait 5 minutes for color development.|
|5. Place the ampoule into the center of the round comparator and hold it toward a source of light, viewing from the bottom. Rotate the comparator until the color below the ampoule shows the closest match.||6. For higher concentrations, use the flat comparator. Place the ampoule between the color standards, moving it along the comparator until you can determine the closest match.|
