The K-5808 CHEMets Visual Kit is a visual indicator kit for measuring hypochlorite in water levels from 0-1.55% as NaOCl.  This device uses the DPD Method for testing. The DPD method is also applicable to the direct determination of hypochlorite concentrations in various cleaning preparations and disinfectants prior to their dilution. DPD reacts with hypochlorite ions to form a pink color. Results are expressed as percent (%) NaOCl.


1. Using the 3 mL syringe, obtain 1.0 mL of the sample to be tested and dispense into the empty Sample Prep Cup. Dilute to the 25 mL mark with distilled water. 2. Place the yellow pipette tip firmly onto the end of the MiniPet. Depress the plunger on the minipet. Immerse the tip in the previously diluted sample and release the plunger. A portion of the sample will be drawn into the tip.
3. Hold the minipet over the empty sample cup and depress the plunger to dispense the sample. 4. Dilute the contents of the sample cup to the 25 mL mark with distilled water.
5. Place the ampoule tip first into the sample cup. Snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill. 6. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end.
7. Dry the ampoule and wait 1 minute for color development. 8. To obtain results, place the ampoule between the color standards, moving it along the comparator until you can determine the closest match.
