Why Choose CHEMetrics Chemets kits?
CHEMetrics Chemets self-filing reagent ampoules are a great way to test for dissolved substances in liquids. These visual test kits allow you to obtain results by measuring the color of the sample according to the color comparators provided with the kit. This unique method allows you to attain results quickly and accurately with minimal contact with potentially hazardous materials.
Safe and Reliable Results:
While traditional methods often require multiple steps and thorough preparation, these test kits allow you to obtain dependable results with a few simple steps. By simplifying the testing method, Chemets test kits reduce the potential for operator error. Additionally, each of the ampoules contained in the test kits is vacuum sealed which helps eliminate the problem of obtaining inaccurate results from stale or unstable reagents. These reagents are stored right in the tip of each ampoule and sealed in glass, thereby minimizing direct contact with the chemicals.
What's Included:
-30 self-filling Ampoules -low and high-range comparators -1 25 mL Sample Cup -Acidifier Solution -Activator Solution -50 mL sample cup with cap -1 mL syringe -Instruction Manual |
Method:
The K-6002 Iron in Brine Kit was designed to accurately measure the levels of Iron in brine from 0-100 and 100-1000 mg/L. K-6002 uses the Ferric Thiocyanate Method. The Iron in Brine test employs the ferric thiocyanate chemistry. In an acidic solution, hydrogen peroxide oxidizes ferrous iron. The resulting ferric iron reacts with ammonium thiocyanate forming a red-orange colored thiocyanate complex, in direct proportion to the iron concentration.
1. Using one of the syringes provided, obtain 0.5 mL of the sample to be tested, and then dispense it into the empty 50 mL cup. Using the other syringe, obtain 1.0 mL of Acidifier Solution and dispense it into the sample cup. | 2. Add 5 drops of Activator Solution. Swirl the cup briefly and wait two minutes before diluting the contents of the sample cup to the 50 mL mark with distilled water. Cap the cup and shake to mix. |

3. Place the CHEMets ampoule tip-first into the sample cup. Snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill. | 4. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end. Dry the ampoule. Test results should be obtained within 1 minute after snapping the ampoule tip. |

5. Place the ampoule into the center of the round comparator and hold it toward a source of light, viewing from the bottom. Rotate the comparator until the color below the ampoule shows the closest match. | 6. For higher concentrations, use flat comparator. Place the ampoule between the color standards, moving it along the comparator until you can determine the closest match. |
